Irish plumbers are leaving money on the table. Most have no online presence. They have no website, or a website that doesn’t rank. They rely on word of mouth, a Facebook page, or nothing at all. Meanwhile, someone searching “emergency plumber near me” on Google gets ten results from plumbers with proper local SEO.

Getting more plumbing jobs from Google requires no paid ads. You don’t need to spend money on Google Ads. You need to do SEO properly. The work is free, but it requires effort and consistency.

The Opportunity Is Massive

Look at your local area. Search “plumber [your town]” on Google. How many results come up? Probably not many. Now search “emergency plumber [your town]”. Still not many. Most plumbers in Ireland have no online presence. The market is wide open.

Every month, hundreds of people in your town search for a plumber on Google. These are people with real problems. They need to book today. They’re not price shopping. They’re not researching. They want a plumber who can help now. If you rank for these searches, you get work.

This is not hypothetical. This is how the plumbing market works in 2026. People search. They find you or they find your competitor. If you’re not searchable, you lose work to the plumber who is.

Step One: Set Up Your Google Business Profile Correctly

This is non-negotiable. If you don’t have a Google Business Profile, you don’t exist on Google. Create one immediately.

Go to google.com/business. Sign in with your Google account. Create a new business profile.

Your business name is your name or your business name. Keep it simple. “John’s Plumbing” or “Cork Plumbing Services”.

Your primary category is “Plumber”. This matters. Get it right.

Add secondary categories: “Drain Cleaning Service”, “Gas Fitting Service”, “Boiler Repair Service”. Whatever applies to you.

Mark emergency services as available if you do emergency work. This is crucial. People searching “emergency plumber” need to see this flag.

Your service area should be specific. If you cover Dublin, add Dublin. If you cover Dublin and surrounding counties, add all of them. Be honest. Google penalises false service areas.

Your phone number is the most important information. Make sure it’s correct. Make it clickable. People should be able to call directly from your profile.

Add high-quality photos. Your van. You at work. Before-and-after photos of jobs. Your office or workshop. These photos appear in Google search results and Google Maps. They build trust.

Write a compelling description: “Emergency plumber serving Dublin and surrounding areas. 24/7 availability. Boiler repair, drain unblocking, leak detection. RGI registered. Over 15 years experience. Call now for rapid response.”

Add all your services as service categories. Don’t be vague. List boiler repair, drain unblocking, leak detection, bathroom fitting, etc. separately.

Step Two: Get Your Website Ranking

Your Google Business Profile alone isn’t enough. You need a website that ranks for local plumbing keywords. Here’s how to build it.

Create service pages for your main services. A page for emergency plumbing. A page for boiler repair. A page for drain unblocking. Each page should target a local keyword. “Emergency Plumber Dublin”. “Boiler Repair Cork”.

Each service page should include:

Your location. “Serving Dublin and surrounding areas.”

A clear description of what you do.

Your qualifications and certifications. RGI registration if applicable.

A call-to-action. “Call now for rapid response” or “Book online”.

Photos of your work if relevant.

Your website should be mobile-friendly. Most plumbing searches happen on phones. If your website doesn’t work well on mobile, people bounce. Google also ranks mobile-first. A bad mobile experience hurts your rankings.

Your homepage should clearly state what you do, where you serve, and how to contact you. Make it obvious. No mystery. No clever design that hides the information.

Add an about page. Tell your story. How long have you been plumbing? What qualifications? What’s your RGI number? Build trust.

Step Three: Get Reviews Fast

Reviews are a ranking signal on Google. They’re also what customers read before calling. A plumber with 30 five-star reviews gets more calls than one with three reviews.

After every job, ask for a Google review. The best time is right after the job is complete. The customer is happy. Their problem is solved. They’re most likely to leave a review.

Make it easy. Don’t ask them to figure out how to review you. Send them a text or email with a direct link to your Google Business Profile review page.

What you say matters: “We’d love to hear how you got on. If you’re happy with the work, please leave a review on Google. It really helps us. Thank you.”

Most customers won’t review. That’s normal. But if you ask 10 customers, two or three will leave a review. Over time, this adds up.

Respond to every review. Thank people for positive reviews. For any negative review, respond professionally. Offer to fix the problem. Never get defensive. This conversation is public. Everyone reading reviews sees how you handle criticism.

Step Four: Target Emergency Plumbing Searches

Emergency plumbing is your highest-intent market. Someone searching “emergency plumber Dublin” needs you urgently. They’re not price shopping. They’re not comparing five quotes. They want someone available now.

On your Google Business Profile, make emergency services visible. Mark your hours as 24/7 if you’re available. Make it clear you handle emergencies.

Create a dedicated emergency plumbing page on your website. Target the keyword “emergency plumber [your town]”. The page should address emergency situations directly: burst pipes, no heating, leaking boiler, blocked drains.

Make your phone number massive on this page. Make it clickable. A visitor should be able to call in two taps.

Update your emergency availability regularly. If you’re swamped, mention it. If you’re available, advertise it.

Write blog content about emergency situations. “What to Do If Your Boiler Leaks”. “How to Handle a Burst Pipe”. These posts rank for problem-related searches and drive visitors to your website.

Step Five: Boiler Work Is Your Growth Area

RGI certification (Registered Gas Installer) opens doors. Boiler repairs, boiler servicing, central heating installation. These are high-value jobs. Customers pay well because they can’t live without heat.

Make sure your RGI certification is visible on every marketing asset. Your website. Your Google Business Profile. Your van. Your business cards.

Create service pages specifically for boiler work. “Boiler Repair Cork”. “Boiler Servicing Dublin”. “Central Heating Installation”. Target seasonal keywords in your blog.

Winter is your peak season. People search for boiler repairs and central heating in October, November, December. Create blog content in summer targeting these searches. Rank early. Capture the traffic.

How Long Does This Take?

SEO is not overnight. Most plumbers see results within 3-6 months. New websites typically take longer. Established businesses with good local signals see faster results.

You’ll start getting inquiries from your Google Business Profile first. This can happen in weeks.

Your website will take longer to rank. Plan on 3-6 months to see consistent traffic from organic search.

The key is consistency. Update your Google Business Profile regularly. Add new service pages. Keep your website fresh. Ask for reviews. The longer you do this, the stronger your local presence becomes.

Getting more plumbing jobs from Google is within reach for every Irish plumber. Set up your Google Business Profile correctly. Build a website that targets local keywords. Get reviews. Ask for emergency work. Invest in boiler certifications. Do this consistently, and you’ll see results.
